Get to know your potential My Personal Yoga Teacher a bit better: Janeen Yusuf!
Janeen is a Registered Yoga Teacher and a Registered Naturotherapy Practitioner, Ayurveda. Janeen’s yoga journey of over 15 years has evolved into a profound discovery and integration of the ancient principles of Ayurveda into her professional practice and way of life. Sharing her experience, knowledge, and application of both Ayurveda and Yoga, Janeen teaches yoga as a holistic process that invites heart-centered self-inquiry, and cares for the body, mind, spirit and emotions. She guides meditation, emphasizes the coordination of breathing with movement, explores subtle anatomy, applies seasonal practices, and offers customized care to support people in their differing stages of life. Janeen received Toronto Arts Council funding for a “Yoga & Storytelling” program she co-developed with Storyteller Rubena Sinha. This ongoing program is a place where seniors who are experiencing reduced mobility can share stories, meditation, and movement together.

Following is a little interview with Janeen!
What got you into yoga?
Infinite love and enjoyment of self-discovery and self-care. As a compassionate and curious self-explorer and observer, I’m either learning or laughing at myself! Often both are happening together
Favourite thing about teaching private sessions?
The opportunity to get to know the person I’m teaching and how I can best support them on their yoga journey. Customizing sessions for their needs.
Go to grounding practice?
During the Spring and Summer, barefoot walking on grass, sand, rocks. Earthing!
During the Fall and Winter, applying warm oil on my body – Ayurvedic self abhyanga practice
What would be a perfect day for you?
Laying on the beach draped in a colourful fabric, enjoying hot humid weather, drinking and eating coconuts, and listening to the sound of waves.
What do you value most in a friendship/relationship?
Love for each other, trust, humour, and the gift of authentically and uninhibitedly BEING
What are you most grateful for these days?
I’m always grateful for Life
