Get to know your potential My Personal Yoga Teacher a bit better–Kassandra Prus!
Kassandra is a queer therapeutic yoga and exercise teacher with over 450 hours of training and specializes in trauma-informed viniyoga (yoga therapy); chair, yin, hatha, and restorative yoga; and seniors exercise. Engaging with yoga’s broader contexts in classes and private sessions–breathwork, mindfulness, meditation, and takeaways into life off the mat–are of particular interest, as well as increasing functional mobility for life-long practice through posture focus. Kassandra enjoys working with those who think they can’t do yoga–because of mobility level, body size, age, injury, or condition–and encourages autonomy, insight, resiliency and self-acceptance in all students. Kassandra is also the owner of My Personal Yoga.
Kassandra teaches in: West Toronto, Downtown Toronto, Etobicoke, and South Vaughan.
Kassandra’s experiences include: Seniors, Arthritis, Joint Replacements, Chronic Pain, Injuries, Limited Mobility, Trauma, Chair, Yin, Yoga Therapy, Hatha, Mindfulness, Ball Rolling, LGBTQ, Traumatic Brain Injury, Dementia, Osteoperosis.
Following is a little interview with Kassandra!
Favourite thing about teaching private sessions:
Often my private clients lives are affected by mobility issues or trauma so I love being able to offer tools to help people more effectively get through their day. Whether it’s improving balance so someone can feel more confident to go their groceries, helping them become mobile enough to put on their socks by themselves, finding ways to manage emotional or mental triggers, or releasing tension to relax the nervous system and ease anxiety or chronic pain, I want my yoga to be relevant to people’s lives 24 hours a day.
Go to grounding practice:
Walks in High Park or any forest!
What would be a perfect day for you?
Fabulous brunch, walk in a forest, reading under a tree, potluck picnic with friends, then a social folk dance and music jam or cosy gig somewhere!
What do you value most in a friendship/relationship?
Being seen and heard. Honesty. Ability to be vulnerable.
