Get to know your potential My Personal Yoga Teacher a bit better! Here’s Lucas Passarella!
Lucas was introduced to yoga in 2012 while studying Software Development in university. The lack of exercise from being in front of a computer most of the time and the stress of school brought Lucas into a slump of anxiety and depression. The physical benefits of yoga affected him shortly after he started, Lucas lost weight, and became stronger through the practice of asana (sanskrit word for postures) developing confidence in his everyday life. As he dwelled deeper into his practice Lucas discovered psychological benefits through pranayama (sanskrit for breath control) keeping him present minded and melting away anxiety. After completing his 250 hour teacher training with Yoga Tree in Toronto, he jumped at the first opportunity to teach. Eventually Lucas quit his full time job to pursue his passion to teach yoga and help others through yoga. Lucas currently operates within Toronto and the GTA. Outside of yoga Lucas is a pop-punk fan and avid show goer, you can commonly find him singing along in the pit moshing with other fans.
Lucas teaches in: West Toronto and Downtown Toronto.
Lucas’s experiences include: Strength Building, Movement Based Therapy, Back Injuries, Weight Loss, Yoga for Men, and Yoga for People Who Don’t Like Yoga.
Following is a little interview with Lucas!
Favourite thing about teaching private sessions:
My favourite thing about teaching private sessions is how those sessions grow overtime. Of course there’s the physical change of the client where they become stronger and more flexible over time and that can be very rewarding in itself. However, the best part is how the relationship changes; eventually small talk about “What’s sore?” evolves into personal anecdotes and inside jokes. When your client(s) start to get to know you and vice-versa the sessions go from being work to something you generally look forward to attending.
Go to grounding practice:
My go to grounding practice is cooking. I always like expanding my horizons and trying new things. Cooking has endless possibilities to explore and the best part is you get to eat what you make afterwards. Another big aspect of cooking is how it brings people together, I enjoy inviting my friends over and having them try a meal I’m extremely proud of.
Current Favourite Band:
My favourite band has been The Wonder Years. I’ve always been deeply rooted in the Pop-Punk music scene and this band represents a major shift in my life. Their album ‘The Upsides’ had the mantra ‘I’m not sad anymore’ repeated throughout it. I was, at the time, a bit lost on where my life was going and during that time I let myself go. One day on bus I had decided to listen to this album on a whim and it instantly struck a note with me. I decided to get myself back together and through that process I eventually found yoga. Still to this day this band holds a special place in my heart, their concerts are always extremely therapeutic for me and I make sure to go out and see them any opportunity I get.
